Connecticut Senate Republicans Welcome Jason Welch as Chief Legal Counsel

Jason Welch named chief legal counselSenate Republican Leader Len Fasano (R-North Haven) and Senate Republican Leader Pro Tempore Kevin Witkos (R-Canton) today announced the hiring of Jason Welch to serve as chief legal counsel for the Connecticut Senate Republican Caucus.

Attorney Welch has worked as a lawyer at Beazley Insurance Company, a Lloyd’s of London syndicate based in Farmington. Welch previously practiced law with Cummings & Lockwood and McCarter & English with a focus on litigation and dispute resolution.

Attorney Welch has served in both the United States Coast Guard Reserve and Army National Guard. He is also a former state senator who served for two terms representing the 31st Senate District and was a ranking member of the Public Health and Veterans’ Affairs committees.

As Chief Legal Counsel, Jason will apply his unique skill set to assist our senators in developing policies that address many challenges faced by Connecticut taxpayers. Attorney Welch grew up in Torrington, attending North and Vogel schools. He holds an undergraduate degree from Hamilton College and a Juris Doctorate degree from Quinnipiac University School of Law.

Welch lives in Bristol with his wife Elizabeth and their seven children.
