Connecticut Rare Disease Day 2019
February 28, 2019Senator Fasano, Speaker Aresimowicz Join Advocates at Connecticut Rare Disease Day 2019
On Thursday, Speaker of the House Joe Aresimowicz (D-Berlin) and Senate Republican Leader Len Fasano (R-North Haven) met with patients, families, caregivers, and medical professionals at the Connecticut Rare Disease Advocacy Day. The lawmakers joined attendees to discuss the challenges rare disease patients face and how Connecticut can better help the most vulnerable.
Greta Stifel (pictured), a Berlin resident who suffers from neuroendocrine tumor carcinoid cancer (NET), presented both legislative leaders with a stuffed zebra mascot, the symbol for her cancer. Just like no two zebras as exactly alike, no two NET cancer patients are alike.
The event was organized by the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) and the Connecticut Rare Action Network.
