Are You Against Tolls? Malloy Called You a Know-Nothing

July 27, 2018

Apparently, if you disagree with Governor Malloy about the need for tolls on Connecticut roads, you are burying your head in the sand.

During this week’s State Bond Commission meeting, Gov. Malloy said people opposed to his extravagant $10 million toll study and who think tolls are a bad idea for Connect are simply “Know-nothings.” They don’t want to know the “truth,” the Governor’s truth, that tolls are the only way to fix our crumbling bridges and highways.

His Secretary of the Office of Policy and Management said other proposals to fund transportation, like the Prioritize Progress Plan, would take money away from other projects.

Would that be projects like the $10 million in bonding that will be given to a billionaire to locate a new company in West Hartford, or the $192 million “forgivable loan” to Jackson Laboratories that the state wrote off this week?

Is this the same Governor who wanted to cut funding for senior meals programs, tried to pass down $400 million in state obligations to our towns and schools but made a deal with state employee unions to give nearly $80 million in one-time bonus payments to state employees?

I guess you just don’t know what Governor Malloy wants you to know.

What I do know, and Governor Malloy acknowledged, is that during the next legislative session, the General Assembly will have a chance to weigh in on this expensive study and hopefully put a stop to it.

Below, see the News Channel 8 story about the $10 million in bonding for the study.
