Veto Session Fails Connecticut Economic Recovery, Continues Hartford’s Fiscal Folly

June 26, 2018

Friends,

I am so disappointed that partisan politics prevented the override of legislation that originally passed both chambers with overwhelming bipartisan support. Failing to fix the Hartford bailout measure, as the legislature did during the regular session, will slow down the state’s fiscal stability and progression toward an improving economy.

Last year, legislators were led to believe the state would help our Capitol city for a few years, not the 20-year deal the administration entered into after the vote. Our efforts to correct this unaffordable mistake was vetoed by the Governor.

Below is my testimony on the Senate floor in favor of a veto override.
