The Day the Allies Turned the Tide
June 6, 2018It took months of planning and a substantial military deception to mislead the German armies. Bad weather almost postponed the plan and would have allowed the German forces to deepen their fortifications along the French coastline. But we know that the Allied forces would not be deterred.
On June 6, 1944, soldiers from the United States, Great Britain, and Canada stormed the beaches of Normandy to begin the battle that would turn the tide of WWII. The D-Day invasion allowed the Allies to gain a foothold that would lead to the liberation of Europe.
It’s been 74 years, and fewer and fewer of our WWII veterans are still with us. We must never forget the brave soldiers who fought and died on those beaches, as well as those who continued the fight for freedom. We owe them so much more than our gratitude.
Thank you and God bless,
