Senator McLachlan Announces Veterans’ Highway Dedication in Danbury

May 24, 2018

State Senator Michael McLachlan (R-24) today invited the public to attend a highway dedication on Sunday, May 27 at 3p.m. in front of the Danbury War Memorial Building on Main Street.

Sen. McLachlan will be joined by local elected leaders and members of Danbury veterans’ organizations that day to officially rename Route 53 as the Danbury Veterans Memorial Highway.

“We have a very dynamic veterans’ community in Danbury,” Sen. McLachlan said. “I believe it is a fitting tribute to dedicate our Main Street in recognition of our veterans’ many contributions to our country during their time in the military, as well as their continued service to the community when they returned home.

“The official naming of the Danbury Veterans Memorial Highways during this Memorial Day Weekend also honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and our freedom,” he said. “We must never forget that our liberties have been paid for by the blood of mostly young men and women, many who were barely adults when they pledge to protect us.”

Sen. McLachlan said that by attending the dedication ceremony, in addition to honoring our fallen soldiers, the public has an opportunity to show support and thanks for those veterans who are still with us.

Sen. McLachlan represents the communities of Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, and Sherman.
