An Update from the Capitol

May 2, 2018

Most of our time in yesterday’s session was taken up by judicial nominations. Many of these judges were qualified, good nominees; however, I felt compelled to vote against them since the state does not have the money to hire essential support staff to allow the judges to sit for trials. Other than this, a few bills were considered and the Senate will be back in session today. Time is running out, and the most pressing issue–the budget adjustment–is yet to be debated.
