Hartford – State Senator Michael McLachlan (R-24) recently received the Capitol Caregiver Award from the American Association of Retired Persons of Connecticut.  The award recognizes the senator’s work supporting family caregivers.

AARP CT John Erlingheuse said, “AARP Connecticut thanks and congratulates Senator McLachlan for his continued advocacy and support on the vital services Connecticut’s 459,000 unpaid family caregivers and their families rely upon.”

Sen. McLachlan said he is humbled that AARP chose to recognize his work.

“Family caregivers play such an important role for our aging population, particularly in helping seniors to remain in their own homes,” he said. “As a legislator, my goal has always been to promote legislation that is in the best interest of the state and its residents, especially our seniors. Receiving this award from AARP for my work is truly an honor.”

Sen. McLachlan represents the communities of Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, and Sherman.
