I want to make you aware of a way to help better protect at-risk youth in Connecticut.

Bill 311 updates the definition of sex trafficking in Connecticut.

Under Bill 311, “sex trafficking” means the recruitment, harboring, transportation or provision of a person for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct with another person in exchange for anything of value.

The sad fact is that children are being bought and sold, and we need an updated law that states that it is trafficking if there is an exchange for something of value. (For example, a place to stay, food, etc.)

This legislation is now before the Committee on Children, where I serve as co-chair.
