Traffic Alert: Vehicle Mounted Traffic Survey to Impact Traffic Speed on Merritt Parkway Today, August 24th

This traffic alert applies only to those who use the Merritt Parkway:

The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced there will be a limited daytime traffic operation that is scheduled fortoday until 2 p.m. Motorists can expect a controlled slowdown of all traffic lanes between Exit 35 and Exit 37 on the Merritt Parkway.

A traffic slowdown of all traffic lanes on the Merritt Parkway between High Ridge Road and South Avenue will occur in order to perform a vehicle mounted survey. The convoy will be traveling at a speed of 35 mph. The survey convoy will consist of State Police escorts and constructions vehicles with flashing yellow lights.

Motorists are advised not to attempt passing the convoy or entering the parkway as the convoy passes entrance ramps. This survey is necessary to determine the existing condition of the roadway prior to performing cross slope corrections. Please use caution when traveling in the vicinity.
