State at crossroads: Sen. Fasano Updates Brad & Dan

July 26, 2017

Connecticut Senate Republican President Len Fasano says the state budget is at a crossroads, with the state public employees’ union concession deal approved by the House Democrats. In this interview, he explains why the Republicans oppose the deal and speculates when or whether it will come up for a vote in the Senate.

Sen. Fasano explains: “If the deal goes through, there’s only three places to go: 1) Raise taxes 2) Cut municipal aid / raise property taxes 3) Cut social services.  Once you tie the hands of the legislature, you have shifted the burden onto municipalities and onto social services.”
