Who is Eligible to Apply: The Cooperative Extension Service for a U.S. state or territory; non-government organizations and/or community based organizations; organizations representing owners and operators of farms, small food processors, or small fruit and vegetable merchant wholesalers that has a commitment to public health and expertise in administering programs that contribute to food safety; federal, state, local, or tribal agencies; an institution of higher education (as defined in Section 101(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 1001(a)) or a foundation maintained by an institution of higher education; a collaboration of two or more eligible entities.

Women and Minorities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Fields Program (WAMS)
Who is Eligible to Apply: (a) State agricultural experiment stations; (b) colleges and universities; (c) university research foundations; (d) other research institutions and organizations; (e) Federal agencies; (f) national laboratories; (g) private organizations or corporations; (h) individuals; or (i) any group consisting of two or more of the entities described in subparagraphs (a) through (h).

Who is Eligible to Apply: Colleges/universities located in an Insular Area conducting teaching/extension programs in at least one discipline/area of food & agricultural sciences. Eligible public or state funded non-land-grant institutions must submit a letter signed by the institution’s Authorized Representative certifying that it meets the requirements in this RFA. Land-grant institutions and others that have secured land-grant status through Federal legislation are automatically eligible.

Distance Education Grants for Institutions of Higher Education in Insular Areas (DEG)
Who is Eligible to Apply: Colleges/universities located in an Insular Area conducting teaching/extension programs in at least one discipline/area of food & agricultural sciences. Eligible public- or state-funded, Non-Land-Grant institutions must submit a letter signed by the institution’s Authorized Representative certifying that it meets the requirements in this RFA. Land-Grant institutions and others that have secured Land-Grant status through Federal legislation are automatically eligible.
