Tell the General Assembly We Can’t Afford Higher Energy Prices
March 17, 2017As your representative in Hartford, I want to let you know about a proposed bill that would lead to higher energy costs and how you can help defeat this measure.
HB 7247, An Act Establishing A Carbon Price For Fossil Fuels Sold In Connecticut, would create a carbon tax that would be added to virtually every form of energy used by state residents. Connecticut already has the highest energy prices in the country. This bill would further increase the cost of electricity, home heating oil, propane, natural gas, diesel fuel, and gasoline.
The legislature’s Environment Committee held a public hearing on this bill and is still accepting public comments. You can tell lawmakers in Hartford that Connecticut residents simply cannot afford higher energy prices.
- Submit your testimony, which can be as long or as short as you want it to be, by email to [email protected]
- Put “Vote No on Bill #7247” in the subject line. Remember to include your name and town where you live.
Make sure that you share this information with seniors, people on fixed incomes, and others who are sick and tired of tax hikes! Together we can stop this expensive and unnecessary bill.
