Fasano on CT net job loss: “It doesn’t have to be this way.”

March 10, 2017

Senate Republican President Pro Tempore Len Fasano (R-North Haven) released the following statement regarding the report that there was a net job loss in Connecticut in 2016.

“These numbers are truly pathetic. Gov. Malloy surely was right when he said he ‘owns’ this. For the past six years, under one-party Democratic rule, record tax hikes and job-killing policies have only fostered unpredictability and instability. We’re literally going backwards now. Our Republican message to Connecticut taxpayers and businesses is: It doesn’t have to be this way. Slow job growth, annual tax hikes and devastating cuts to vital state services do not have to be our ‘new normal’. We don’t have to stay mired in what the governor’s budget chief called our ‘permanent fiscal crisis’. We will work with Democrats at the State Capitol to break our state free of the chaotic route our state is on. Putting Connecticut back on a sustainable, long-term, pro-growth path must happen, and it must happen this year.”
