On Monday, a public hearing will be held on a proposal to protect CT forest land, parks, wildlife areas and other open space with a constitutional amendment. The amendment would strengthen restrictions on the sale of preserved land and protect the amount of open space currently in the state.

Here’s how you can help.

  1. Submit testimony on why CT land should be preserved and protected by emailing your comments to [email protected]
  2. Your testimony can be as brief as you like. Just include your name and town. Refer to the bill as S.J. 39.
  3. Spread the word to others about this opportunity to support our environment!

The public hearing will be held Monday, February 27, 2017 10:00 AM in Room 1A of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Ave. Hartford, CT.

You can read the full text of the resolution here: https://www.cga.ct.gov/2017/TOB/s/2017SJ-00039-R00-SB.htm.

Last year, the state legislature was successful in passing the first step to make this constitutional amendment a reality. The process now requires passage of the same resolution a second time before the question to amend the state’s constitution is put before the voters across the state.
