Sick of Secret Deals That Affect Your Energy Bill?

February 16, 2017

Have you read about the Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Consortium’s (CMEEC) unethical and secretive vacations to the Kentucky Derby – all paid by you, the ratepayer – over the last four years?

These “trips” cost over $1 million, money that could have lowered your electric bills.

I have a proposal to let ratepayers and taxpayers examine the financial books of CMEEC and other municipal financial utilities.

You can help me “shine a light” on these public finances by:

  1. Sending an email today to: [email protected] (the email may be as brief as you like)
  2. Copying me on the email at [email protected]
  3. Putting “Support Sen. Somers’ Bill # 413” in the Subject Line
  4. Sharing this info with your fellow taxpayers and ratepayers!

The public hearing on my Bill #413 will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. in Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building.

Thank you for supporting accountability and openness!

Sen. Heather Somers
