Hartford – Pictured – On Feb. 14 Senator Kevin Witkos (R-Canton) testified in favor of legislation that would make it easier for veterans and their spouses to earn vocational certification to pursue new career paths.

Sen. Witkos testified before the state’s Veterans Affairs Committee in support of legislation that would reduce the costs for veterans and their spouses to obtain occupational licensing and certifications. In his testimony, Sen. Witkos also called for expanding the list of training programs that can count towards earning vocational licenses and certifications to also include the training received during military service.

“Our veterans and military members deserve every opportunity to transition back into civilian life and attain good paying jobs that match their skill sets. By both expanding the training that can count towards vocational licensing and reducing the cost of those licenses and certificates we can offer veterans and their families the support and opportunity they so deeply deserve,” said Witkos.
