January 18, 2017

Senator Art Linares (R-33) today called on residents to consider donating new socks to Old Saybrook Social Services before the organizations January 26 Help Day.

“Socks are such a basic necessity. It’s incredible the impact they can have in helping someone stay warm,” Sen. Linares said.

Old Saybrook Social Services is looking for new socks of all types and sizes. Donations can be dropped off at Old Saybrook Youth and Family Services, 322 Main Street by January 25

“Anyone in our community can find themselves in a situation where they need a helping hand. Old Saybrook Social Services does its best to provide that help and it’s important for those of us who can to make sure social services has the donations needed to continue helping our neighbors,” Sen. Linares said.

Socks will be distributed Jan. 26 at Grace Episcopal Church from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees can also get flu shots, apply for SNAP and Access Health Connecticut benefits, and receive donations from the Connecticut Food Bank. Because Help Days can become busy, interested individuals are asked to call 860-395-3188 for an appointment.
