Sen. McLachlan Encourages Residents to Get Flu Vaccines

January 3, 2017

State Sen. Michael McLachlan (R-24) today urged residents who have not been vaccinated to protect themselves from the flu.

“The Department of Public Heal recently reported an increase in the number of influenza cases, particularly in Fairfield County,” Sen, McLachlan said. “While the flu may not be serious for most people, for the elderly, young children, and those with compromised immune systems, the flu can be deadly. Connecticut has already reported four flu-related deaths this winter.”

Sen. McLachlan said residents concerned about the cost of a vaccine may be able to receive a low-cost or free vaccine.

“Many pharmacies have flu vaccines that are covered by insurance, or residents can contact their local health department,” Sen. McLachlan said.

Sen. McLachlan represents the communities of Bethel, Danbury, New Fairfield, and Sherman.
