Sen. Martin’s Statement on the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor

December 7, 2016

As we prepare for ceremonies to acknowledge the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, I am reminded of the recent death of Ed Riccio, Bristol’s last surviving Pearl Harbor veteran. There are so few of our WWII veterans left to tell the tales of sacrifice those brave men and women made for our country. It is now up to us to tell those stories and make certain Connecticut and our nation never forget.

I hope you will take time today to attend a ceremony, or even to learn more about what happened and the heroism of those who fought and died that day. Because freedom was never free, and we must remember the incredible cost our veterans paid for each and every one of us. Our country owes them an incredible debt of gratitude.
