Sen. Linares Statement Against the Federal Railroad Administration’s report

I am glad members of the Connecticut Congressional Delegation are standing by shoreline residents in opposing the Federal Railroad Administration’s (FRA) destructive plans. FRA’s unrealistic tunnel proposal would irreparably mar the picturesque landscape of towns like Old Lyme and Old Saybrook, disrupt residents, and destroy important historic structures. Instead, we should be investing in improvements to existing rails, roads, and bridges that will improve the safety of our transportation infrastructure. I plan to fully support local legislative efforts to prevent funding and implementation of the FRA’s folly and ensure that the will of Connecticut’s people is honored.
