Preparing For The Upcoming Legislative Session

December 15, 2016

Each year as I prepare for a new legislative session and craft bill proposals that I believe will improve our state’s economy, education, and quality of life, I rely on information from a variety of sources. An important document that I believe should be read by all elected and appointed officials is the report on issues facing our state that is generated by our non-partisan Office of Legislative Research, Office of Fiscal Analysis, and the Legislative Commissioner’s Office.

Some of the important issues identified for the 2017 Legislative Session of the General Assembly are:

  • State budget
  • Energy and technology
  • Fiscal health of Connecticut’s cities and towns
  • Education and employment
  • Prescription opioid abuse
  • Transportation

These are only a few of the issues outlined in this report that may be addressed in this legislative session. My office has also compiled a list of constituent concerns over the last year that should be considered. Among these are important tax and budget reforms that are vital to the future health of our state economy and taxpayers, but that are not listed here. I will report back to you with more information about these important matters as the new session commences.

On these or any other issues, contact my office at (860) 240-0465 or email me at [email protected]
