Metro-North Announces New Year’s Weekend Train Schedule

Are you heading on a trip for New Year’s Weekend? If the answer is yes, Metro-North is urging customers to buy their tickets in advance. If you are looking to get away early – Metro-North will offer a Getaway Service on Friday, December 30th with extra trains departing Grand Central starting at 1:00 p.m. Additionally, because of reduced ridership, some evening trains may be cancelled or combined.

On New Year’s Eve (Saturday, December 31st) Metro-North will operate a special schedule. For those who are planning on ringing in the new year in Times Square (or anywhere else), the New Year’s Eve schedule will include extra inbound late afternoon and early evening services. Metro-North will also offer an overnight New Year’s morning service to get you home safely.

On New Year’s Day (Sunday, January 1st) Metro-North will operate a Sunday schedule.

This year, New Year’s Day is observed on Monday, January 2nd. Since most businesses and government offices are closed, Metro-North will operate a Saturday schedule.
