Linares Backing Bashan Lake Legislation

Bashan Lake Association President Bill Denya (left) and Sen. Art Linares (right) on Mar. 11 testified before the state legislature’s Environment Committee in favor of a proposal to transfer the control and monitoring of Bashan Lake’s water level from the state to the Town of East Haddam. Environmental advocates who testified said the proposal would allow East Haddam and the Bashan Lake Association to control the lake’s drawdown in a timely manner in the fall. Linares thanked Rep. Melissa Ziobron, East Haddam residents and the Bashan Lake Association’s taxpayers for their work on doing what’s best for the lake over the long-term. The bill, which Linares and Ziobron are co-sponsoring, now awaits a vote by the committee.
