Upgrades for Watertown Fire Department

Rep. Eric Berthel and Sen. Rob Kane on Oct. 22 met with Watertown Fire Department Chief Larry Black to talk about the department’s Buckingham Street building and renovations that will be funded through a $200,000 grant from the state’s Small Town Economic Assistance Program. Black, joined by Deputy Chief David Hardt and Town Manager Robert Scannell, led Berthel and Kane on a tour of the Company No. 2 facility and described the department’s goals of correcting a roof-related problem that’s causing water damage and enlarging bay doors to accommodate a larger fire apparatus. Kane and Berthel worked to secure the grant award, which was announced earlier this month.
