Opening Weekend’s Proceeds to be Donated to YMCA

A new restaurant in Wilton that opens for business this Friday is looking to make a positive impact on the Riverbrook Regional YMCA in the process.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. Friday (Oct. 23) at REN Dumpling & Noodle House, located at Gateway Plaza, 14 Danbury Road. The restaurant produces high quality Chinese cuisine and features Szechuan style dishes and Dim Sum.

The restaurant’s owner and head chef, Eric Xie, will donate all proceeds from its opening weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) to the Riverbrook Regional YMCA.

“As a frequent visitor to Chef Xie’s Village Gourmet restaurant in Norwalk, I am thrilled that he is bringing authentic home-style comfort Chinese food to Wilton,” Sen. Tony Hwang said. “Chef Zie is a community-minded small business owner who enjoys giving back to help others. That’s evident by the restaurant’s generous support of the Riverbrook Regional YMCA.”

“This wonderful Norwalk business owner is expanding to Wilton, and we couldn’t be happier,” Sen. Toni Boucher said. “Chef Xie reached out to Sen. Hwang and me recently to express his desire to help one of Wilton’s non-profit groups. Since the YMCA now serves both Wilton and Norwalk, this was a great fit. The Y does so much for our communities, and this generous offer from Eric will help to benefit many area residents. We encourage people to try this new restaurant and spread the word about this opening. The food is delicious and I plan to take my family!”

“We thank the REN Dumpling & Noodle House, Chef/Owner Eric Xie, State Senator Toni Boucher and State Senator Tony Hwang for choosing the YMCA to receive the proceeds from the REN Dumpling’s opening,” said Bob McDowell, CEO, Riverbrook Regional YMCA. “Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors in Wilton and Norwalk to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. These funds will ensure we can deliver on this promise.”

The Riverbrook Regional YMCA, which also serves Redding residents, is a charitable organization dedicated to maximizing the personal potential of all individuals in the community.
