Weston legislators to honor ‘Miss Joy’ today [WestonForum.com]

State Senators Toni Boucher (R-26) and Tony Hwang (R-28) and state Rep. John Shaban (R-135) will present Weston Children’s Librarian Joy Beckwith with a citation from the General Assembly thanking her for her decades of work in the community and congratulating her upon her retirement.
The presentation will be made on Monday, Sept. 28, at 5:30 p.m., at the Weston Public Library, 56 Norfield Road.
State Sen. Tony Hwang’s office said the delegation is presenting Beckwith the citation in recognition of the immeasurable positive impact she has have had on countless members of the community during her 27 years as Children’s Librarian at Weston Public Library.
He said her creativity, passion and dedication have instilled future generations with the joys of reading and learning and helped set them up for success in life.
Fondly known as “Miss Joy,” Beckwith joined the library in 1988, shortly after expansion of the Children’s Room. She was the library’s first children’s librarian and introduced story times, and children’s programming such as the popular Touch A Truck event.
Miss Joy’s last day at the library is Oct. 1. Children and parents are encouraged to visit her in the Children’s Room.
