Letter: State’s budget is a disaster [Norwich Bulletin]
September 29, 2015The Bulletin’s observations on the crumbling state budget passed by Connecticut Democrats are spot on (“Cuts don’t bode well for new budget,” Sep. 21).
The budget is a disaster. Deep cuts are now being made by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy which directly threaten health care quality and access while hurting seniors, the disabled, and low-income residents.
Bulletin readers may recall that Republicans proposed an alternative budget which did not raise taxes and protected services for our most vulnerable residents. Unfortunately, Malloy and Democratic legislative leaders kept Republicans out of budget negotiations.
We urge Bulletin readers to join us in urging Democrat lawmakers in Eastern Connecticut to convene a special legislative session immediately so that we can get to work in fixing this terrible state budget.
