Businesses in Connecticut need certainty, stability

Connecticut can make positive strides as a state if lawmakers enact policies that provide businesses with certainty and stability.

In its Aug. 26 editorial, “It’s too soon to celebrate,” the Republican-American quite properly noted the 2015-17 state budget, which contained the second-largest tax increase in Connecticut history, provides neither.

The scenario that plays out annually at the Capitol calls to mind the running gag in “Peanuts” comic strips in which Lucy pulls the football away from the ever-trusting Charlie Brown just as he is about to kick it.

Lucy is Connecticut’s Democratic-controlled government, while Charlie Brown represents potential job creators.

Making Connecticut more business-friendly — and allowing Charlie Brown to kick that football — must be our top priority.
