Fun and Food – A Celebration For a Good Cause

Hartford, CT – State Senator Paul Formica (R-East Lyme) attended the Thames Valley Council for Community Action benefit, “Carnevale” over the weekend in New London. The event raised money for Meals on Wheels.

TVCCA reaches out to low-income people in their communities, addressing their needs through a comprehensive approach, developing partnerships with other community organizations, involving low income clients in the agency’s operations and administering a full range of coordinated programs designed to have a measureable impact on poverty.

Programs cover New London, Windham and part of Tolland counties. They include: Head Start, Child Early Care and education; Workforce Investment Board employment and training; a shelter for homeless families; Section 8 housing; eviction prevention and mediation; budget counseling; community coordination of emergency services including food clothing and shelter; elderly, infant and prenatal nutrition programs; senior employment and volunteer programs; energy assistance; case management; information and referral; and advocacy services.

Senator Formica last month participated in the meal production night in the TVCCA’s Bozrah Office helping to prepare March for Meals.
