Senator Formica and Mohegan Tribe officials at the casino in Uncasville for the announcement.

Hartford, CT – State Senator Paul M. Formica (R-East Lyme) released the following statement today after attending a press conference at the Mohegan Sun Casino where it was announced the tribe will be building a new Earth Hotel.

“A second hotel will potentially bring more than 500 new jobs to the region and help give visitors another place to stay. We learned that the Earth Hotel will be a 400-room, seven-story building which will cost less per night than the current hotel at the Mohegan Sun complex. This is a smart addition for convention attendees and families who visit the area for a big event and are watching their budgets.

“This addition will help boost tourism in Southeastern Connecticut and I hope will help connect the wonderful venues we host in the region.”
