Casinos Joint Venture a Job Winner for Southeastern Connecticut

March 23, 2015

Hartford, CT – State Senator Paul Formica (R-East Lyme) and member of the Public Safety Committee released the following statement today re: passage of Senate Bill 1090 An Act Concerning Gaming.

“I voted in favor of this bill because it will mean jobs for Connecticut. The casinos in my district of the state employ thousands of people throughout southeastern Connecticut and any joint venture of the gaming business will solidify those jobs.

“It is no secret that competition across the border could affect the casino industry in the state. I see this as a pro-active measure to make sure Connecticut jobs are secure and that economic development is done in a thoughtful and deliberate way.

“The state’s Attorney General will be involved as will the local towns where these facilities will be located. We as a state cannot afford to hedge our bets. This is business 101.”
