A Message from Your New State Senator, Tony Hwang

January 6, 2015

Hello, neighbor:

As the 2015 legislative session gets underway, I wanted to take a moment to ensure that you and I stay connected.

Nothing is more important to me, as your state Senator representing our community in Hartford, than reflecting the will of the people and the best interests of our town. It is a privilege that I am honored to have, and that I will work hard every day to earn.

Our state is once again facing big deficits that demand we approach our budget with openness and a true willingness to make difficult decisions. I am committed to protecting residents and businesses from any more tax increases, and will only support a budget that reflects a fiscally-responsible and common-sense approach.

At the same time, we cannot ignore the critical role government plays in ensuring we have a safe and reliable transportation infrastructure. Sadly, it’s one that state government has not taken as seriously as it should over the past several decades, so there is some catching up to do. Investing in our transportation infrastructure – roads, bridges and railroad – is absolutely essential if Connecticut is to accelerate its economic recovery and if we are to enjoy the quality of life that makes this such a great place to live and work.

There are a number of other issues that we will tackle this year, and I am committed to gathering community input at every opportunity. To that end, here are some ways we can stay in touch:

I also welcome the opportunity to connect with you via phone, email, and postal mail. Here’s how you can reach me:

State Senator Tony Hwang
