HARTFORD >> State Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven) appeared on a recent edition of Comcast Newsmakers, hosted by Eric Clemons, to discuss his legislative priorities for the 2015 legislative session. As incoming Senate Minority Leader, Senator Fasano will lead the Senate Republican Caucus this session and help set the legislative agenda.

“I think there are a lot of things we have to do,” Senator Fasano said about the upcoming session. “I think we need to have a new definition of what the Republican Party stands for. I think we need to get out to urban centers. I think we need to be more proactive.”

Senator Fasano also explained the need to address the state’s budget issues, tax issues and antibusiness climate. He said that working cooperatively across the aisle is the first and most important step in addressing this year’s deficit and creating a plan to remedy the two year projected deficit that is expected to exceed $2 billion.

Fasano also explained his desire to reform the election process in Connecticut. He referenced multiple problems that came up on Election Day including election counts that varied by as much as 1,000 to 1,500 votes per candidate.

“In this day and age, with the technology that we have, it’s amazing to think that [can happen],” Fasano said, referencing the varied election reporting results.

Fasano also expressed excitement for his new role and growing his positive working relationship with fellow leaders, including both Republicans and Democrats.
