Meet Senator Martin

State Senator Henri Martin represents Connecticut’s 31st Senatorial District, which includes Bristol, Harwinton, Plainville, Plymouth and Thomaston.

Sen. Martin serves as ranking member of the state legislature’s Banks Committee, Committee on Children, and the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Sen. Martin also is a member of the Transportation Committee.

Sen. Martin is focused on improving the business climate and creating jobs in Connecticut. He is a strong advocate for the elimination of unfunded mandates, lowering of energy costs and reducing wasteful state spending. He is working to reduce license fees for small businesses and tradesmen, end the income tax on pensions and social security, reduce gas taxes, hold CL&P accountable, and stop diverting funds from road and bridge repairs.

Sen. Martin is the Owner of Henri Martin Real Estate and Broad Street Self Storage. A two-term Bristol city councilman, he was appointed as Acting Mayor in 2013. In Bristol city government, Sen. Martin served as Chairman of Salary Committee, Chairman of Building Committee and Chairman of Bristol Public Work Committee. He has been Liaison to the Bristol Board of Education, Bristol Downtown Development Committee, and Bristol/Burlington Health District. He has also been a member of Bristol’s 10-Year Capital Improvement Committee and Public Works Board.

Sen. Martin attended St. Anselm College and the University of Hartford. He lives in Bristol with his wife of more than 30 years, Roxanne. He has four grown children; Heidi, Joey, Julie and Jon.
