Boucher Statement on the Passing of Lou Rell
March 24, 2014Hartford, CT – State Senator Toni Boucher (R-Wilton) released the following statement today re: the passing of Governor Jodi Rell’s husband, Lou Rell.
“I extend my deepest sympathy to Governor Jodi Rell and her family at the loss of a truly good man. Lou Rell was the consummate political spouse, whose pride in Jodi and her accomplishments was matched only by his quiet strength and support for her service, though he always remained behind the scenes.
“I have known Governor Rell and Lou for many years and cannot overstate the value of their friendship or their support for my legislative work. Whenever we met Lou always had a kind word to say and would encourage me to take on greater responsibilities. We would often discuss the challenges and responsibilities of office, and the importance of serving Connecticut. I enjoyed every encounter with this wonderful man. He had a deep knowledge of all the issues facing our state and we seemed to agree on nearly everything.
“But above all, it was his humor, courage and his boundless love and pride in his wife and children that impressed me the most. They were true role models during some the state’s most ethically challenging times. Lou Rell will be deeply missed and cherished by all of us who were fortunate to know him.”
