Sen. Kissel Applauds $$ for Enfield Housing Authority

Enfield officials are applauding the news that the State of Connecticut will approve an injection of funding for the Enfield Housing Authority (EHA).

A total of $475,000 has been placed on the Feb. 28 agenda of the State Bond Commission. The funding will to be put toward improvements at Enfield Manor and Extension, Woodside Park, Ella Grasso Manor and Windsor Court.

Scott Bertrand, executive director of EHA, said that in anticipation of the funding, EHA has initiated improvement efforts covered by the funding. This includes the submission of an application to the State of Connecticut’s Department of Housing in January for funding the physical improvements for Woodside Park, Ella Grasso Manor and Windsor Court. The EHA will now be focusing on pre-development activities for renovations at Enfield Manor and Enfield Manor Extension.

“Modernizing the local housing portfolio is crucial if we are to meet demands for secure and accessible affordable housing in Enfield,” Sen. John A. Kissel (R-Enfield) said. “This is good news for our seniors and for all of our residents.”

“I thank the Bond Commission for supporting the Enfield Housing Authority in their efforts to provide modern and upgraded local housing,” Rep. David W. Kiner (D-Enfield) said. “The Town of Enfield and its residents benefit when there is fair access to state-sponsored housing.”

David Alexander (D-Enfield) said. “Maintaining and improving our housing stock is critical and I appreciate the work of everyone who worked to secure the funding and I thank Governor Malloy for his support of state-sponsored housing.”
