Sen Kelly: UTC Agreement is a Positive Sign; But Community is Still Mourning Lost Jobs

February 27, 2014

Senator Kevin Kelly (R-Stratford) released the following statement today regarding United Technologies Corporation’s business agreement with the state of Connecticut.

“I am pleased to see a statewide focus on growth and development of UTC companies. An investment of this magnitude is a positive sign for Connecticut that reaffirms the value of quality locally-made products and the impressive skills of Connecticut workers.

“Unfortunately, this agreement does not allow us to go back in time to prevent the 600 layoffs Sikorsky sadly announced last week. So today, I see the Stratford community both mourning and celebrating.

“I am very thankful for this significant commitment to keep UTC productive in Connecticut, and I hope that with this new support for Sikorsky we will never have to face such a damaging occurrence of job loss again.”
