BRIDGEPORT – Local leaders are expressing concerns about the impact Sikorsky Aircraft’s plan to cut jobs will have on the state’s economy.

State Sen. Kevin Kelly has called on the state Department of Labor to offer job search technique training to those facing layoffs.

Company officials say most of the 600 jobs to be eliminated will be in Connecticut, although the exact amount has not yet been announced. Sikorsky says the decision to eliminate jobs was triggered by educed military spending. The company says it has seen a cutback in orders for Black Hawk helicopters.
