State Leaders Told Reporters Access Health Was Accurate, 4 Days After Inaccuracies Discovered

Four days after inaccuracies were discovered on the Access Health Connecticut website, Connecticut Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman told reporters that the site was accurate. She made the comment standing with Gov. Dannel Malloy and Access Health CT’s CEO, Kevin Counihan, at the rollout of the state health insurance exchange on Oct. 1.

“We believe everything is accurate at the moment, and we just want to make sure. We are going to be checking up on people that enrolled,” Wyman said.

Access Health’s chief marketing officer, Jason Madrak, addressed the comments Friday. He said that the problem of inaccuracies was remedied through a disclaimer on the Access Health CT website. Click here for a sample of the disclaimers: disclaimer-sample-pdf

“It told the individuals where to get the correct information, which was on the site, just in a particular spot, which individuals may not have gone too,” Madrak said.

Last week, Fox CT discovered that 2,408 notices went out to Access Health enrollees, notifying them of inaccuracies on the website. The inaccuracies included incorrect information about deductibles and co-insurance impacting all 19 individual health plans through three insurance carriers. In one case, the maximum out of pocket cost was underestimated by at least $4,000.

Republican State Senator Kevin Kelly is calling for a public hearing to look into these issues regarding Access Health CT. Watch the full report:
