Markley to Malloy: Help DSS Make People the Priority

December 11, 2013

Hartford, CT – State Senator Joe Markley (R-Southington) ranking member of the Human Services Committee released the following statement today re: Connecticut Department of Social Services processing delays.

“Everyone recognizes there’s a problem, and everyone wants to fix it–I have no doubt of that. The members of the Human Services committee have been questioning Commissioner Bremby regularly for nearly three years about his progress and his plans, and I believe he and the able people around him are doing their best to improve capacity at the Department of Social Services (DSS).

“The one man who can make this a priority–and the man who went unmentioned at today’s press conference–is Governor Malloy. He chose the commissioner, the commissioner reports to him, and he alone can provide the resources and the encouragement needed to make DSS responsive to the people it serves.”
