Gold Star Cadet Honored by Bristol Delegation

Hartford, CT – Senator Jason Welch (R-Bristol) and Representatives Frank Nicastro (D-Bristol), Whit Betts (R-Bristol), Christopher Wright (D-Bristol) recently presented a General Assembly citation to David Chapman, a cadet at Mass Maritime Academy (MMA). The citation recognized Chapman’s accomplishments at MMA and the distinction of earning a gold star and being named 3rd Company’s Cadet of the Month.

For more than 100 years, Massachusetts Maritime Academy has been preparing women and men for exciting and rewarding careers on land and sea. As the nation’s finest co-ed maritime college, MMA challenges students to succeed by balancing a unique regimented lifestyle with a typical four-year college environment. As a member of the cadet corps students live, study, sail, work and play in an atmosphere that encourages them to be the best.

MMA is located on Cape Cod, at the mouth of the scenic Cape Cod Canal. Students pursue love for the ocean, concern for the environment, interest in Math and Science, and thirst for adventure.

The General Assembly citation given to Chapman read, your superior effort and achievement which has earned you a gold star as the 3rd Company’s Cadet-of-the-Month for October, 2013. Through dedication to the ideals of hard work and self-sacrifice and contribution to the success of the Regiment of Cadets, you have set a standard of excellence for others to follow.
