Sen. Art Linares on Oct. 22 met with the Estuary Transit District Executive Director Joe Comerford and toured Centerbrook-based 9 Town Transit.

Sen. Linares boarded one of the shoreline public transit provider’s new buses. Each bus offers a ramp for people using wheelchairs or walkers instead of the traditional wheelchair lifts.

9 Town Transit provides service to all parts of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Lyme, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook, with connections to New Haven, New London and Middletown.

“The transit district does an excellent job providing transportation for low-income families, the elderly and the disabled,” Sen. Linares said. “I wanted to get a first-hand look at the technology on these new buses, because they are helping to remove barriers for our most vulnerable residents.”
