Sen. Art Linares, Rep. Melissa Ziobron Lead Cleanup at Sunrise State Park in Moodus

Sen. Art Linares (far left) and Rep. Melissa Ziobron (front row, to Sen. Linares’ right) on Oct. 27 organized a “Community Cleanup” of Sunrise State Park in Moodus.

The legislators were joined by several volunteers from the area who helped pick up debris and litter.

“We were so pleased that so many members of the community came out on a Sunday afternoon to take part in the long-awaited effort to clean up this landmark,” Rep. Ziobron said. “Many of us have fond memories of the property when it was a successful resort. Community support like this will be critical to establish a Friends group, which will advocate for the Park long into the future.”

“In just one afternoon, we made a tremendous impact,” Sen. Linares said. “We want to make this property beautiful again, and we are grateful that so many caring and dedicated residents made this clean up event a success.”

Following the clean-up, the legislators thanked the Moodus Sportsmen’s Club for supplying chili, soup, and sandwiches to all volunteers.
