Critics of public water fluoridation came to the state Capitol in Hartford on Wednesday to make their case against use of the substance in public water supplies.
At a hearing led by Republican state Sen. Joe Markley, fluoride critics insisted that the chemical can cause tooth decay, brain damage and other serious health problems. Markley had invited dentists–who largely support public water fluoridation–to speak the hearing, but none showed.
