Sen. Witkos Hosts “Axe the Gas Tax” Petition Drive in Simsbury Monday Afternoon
June 21, 2013With the largest gas tax hike in state history set to hit Connecticut on July 1, Senator Kevin Witkos on Monday (June 24) will be at the Gulf gas station at 125 West Street (Rt. 167) in Simsbury to talk with motorists about an effort to prevent the upcoming pain at the pump.
Senator Witkos will be at the Gulf Station from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. getting the word out about the tax hike and adding taxpayers’ signatures to an “Axe the Gas Tax” petition.
“Connecticut drivers are already fed up with the gas tax,” said Senator Witkos. “When this tax increase hits on July 1st, families and businesses around our state will see their costs go up. This petition will help send a message to Gov. Malloy that we have had enough of these tax increases. I look forward to seeing you at the Gulf station on Monday.”
The petition can be signed online at www.AxeTheGasTaxCT.com.
Connecticut’s current taxes on a gallon of gas total about 47 cents. The July 1 tax hike will tack on about four more cents per gallon.
