Sen. McLachlan to Host “Axe the Gas Tax” Petition Drive in Danbury Monday Afternoon

June 21, 2013

With the largest gas tax hike in state history set to hit Connecticut on July 1, Sen. Michael McLachlan on Monday (June 24) will be at Food Bag Citgo, 90 West Street, Danbury to talk with motorists about his efforts to prevent the upcoming pain at the pump.

Sen. McLachlan will be at the Citgo Station from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. getting the word out about the tax hike and adding taxpayers’ signatures to an “Axe the Gas Tax” petition.

More than 3500 taxpayers have signed the petition. The petition can be signed online at www.AxeTheGasTaxCT.com.

Connecticut’s current taxes on a gallon of gas total about 47 cents. The July 1 tax hike will tack on about four more cents per gallon.

“Connecticut taxpayers are already fed up,” Sen. McLachlan said. “When this gas tax hike hits in about a week, it will hurt businesses and families in greater Danbury and across the state. I hope to see many area residents on Monday afternoon.”
