State Reps. Whit Betts & Frank Nicastro Applaud Crystal Diner Owner, Selma Hamzy

Veterans of the American Legion Seicheprey Post #2 gather to thank Crystal Diner owner, Selma Hamzy, for her continued support.

BRISTOL – This week, State Representatives Whit Betts (R-78) and Frank Nicastro (D-79) joined Commander Chuck Woodin and Veterans from the American Legion Seicheprey Post #2 of Bristol, in honoring Crystal Diner owner, Selma Hamzy.

Commander Woodin and Sr. Vice Commander Bob Coffey, surrounded by veterans and friends, presented Hamzy with a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition and thanks for her many years of support and all that she has done for veterans.
Reps. Betts and Nicastro then presented Hamzy with a citation on behalf of the Connecticut General Assembly, for her continued support of the American Legion Post #2, and its veteran members. Jill Fitzgerald, aide to State Senator Jason Welch (R-31) joined the Representatives on his behalf in presenting the citation.

“I’d like to extend my sincerest congratulations and thanks to Selma Hamzy. For over 13 years, she has welcomed and served the greater Bristol community, including our local veterans,” said Rep. Betts. She has made Crystal Diner a friendly gathering place, and treats her customers as though they are family. I wish her many more years of continued success.”
“The Crystal Diner has done so much for veterans in the community and they have always been a supporter of the Bristol American Legion Honor Guard and fund raising activities,” said Rep. Nicastro. “I have known Selma Hamzy for many years, going all the way back to the grand opening ribbon cutting at the diner when I was Mayor of Bristol. I have always been extremely proud of her deep generosity.”

“Selma Hamzy is a hardworking, caring woman who not only opens her restaurant to all, but also opens her heart. A cup of coffee and a smile go a long way in making customers feel at home. Veterans sincerely appreciate her generosity and as a veteran I extend my congratulations to her for making our community a better place,” said Sen. Welch.
