Collection Of Worn Out American Flags Scheduled For June 8

State Sen. Kevin Witkos, Republican of Canton, is sponsoring two collections on June 8 where residents of his district can drop off worn out American flags for proper disposal, according to an announcement from his office.
The collections will be at the Simsbury transfer station at 66 Wolcott Road in Simsbury from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and at the Regional Refuse Disposal District #1 at 31 New Hartford Road in Barkhamsted from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Anyone with a worn out American flag can bring them to the collections and they will be given to the American Legion, which will dispose of them at a retirement ceremony on Flag Day, which is June 14.
Witkos represents the 8th Senate District, which includes Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, Granby, Hartland, Harwinton, New Hartford, Norfolk, Simsbury, Torrington.
