At the Haddam Transfer Station on Saturday, May 25, Haddam First Selectman Paul Destefano (left) and Sen. Art Linares (right) collected more than 3,000 worn and tattered American flags from area residents. The American flags will be given to the American Legion so that they may be properly retired.

“The community’s response was tremendous, and we thank the many residents who came out on this Memorial Day weekend to help us to retire these worn flags in a dignified and respectful way,” Sen. Linares said.

Anyone with questions about flags can reach Sen. Linares at 800 842-1421 or at [email protected].
